In the survey in 2013, two specific needs were identified for play equipment for older young people and out door gym equipment for fitness training. This supported the need for play equipment in the Stoke sub Hamdon community which was identified as shortfall by a South Somerset District Council survey of Area North. We have combined these two needs into one project, which became and Adopted Project in 2017.

In 2019, this planned project came to fruition and the Trust was able to open the new adventure play area, which included the following equipment:

  • A zip wire
  • A Viking super rope-end swing
  • A giant spinning disc
  • A basket swing
  • A multi-unit adventure climbing frame with a slide
  • An agility trail including monkey bars, stepping logs, angled balance beams and a rope embankment climber
  • Outdoor gym equipment, including a ski stepper assembly, beam jump, step up, sit-up assembly, air walker, air skier

The final cost of the project was £160,468.00 and the Trust would like to thank the following orgainsations for the support and funding for the project:

  • The Charity Shop and the May Fayre
  • Stoke sub Hamdon Parish Council
  • South Somerset District Council
  • The People’s Postcode Lottery
  • Awards for All
  • Battens
  • The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation
  • The Leonard Laity Stoate Chartable Trust
  • Yarlington Housing Association Limited
  • The Pebble Grant Rank Organisation
  • Tesco Bags of Help

The Adventure Play Area now includes the following facilities:
