In the past 10 years, the Trust has carried out a number of major projects to improve the recreation facilities on the Recreation Ground, West Street. These projects include the refurbishment of the BMX track, fencing around the Recreation Ground car park and along the Matt’s Lane boundary, the installation of picnic tables, provision of a defibrillator at the pavilion, installation of fixed floodlighting for the training area, a porch on the pavilion, providing the adventure play equipment and the outdoor gym equipment, security cameras for the adventure play area and re-surfacing the car park. The total cost for these projects is £255,906.67. This money was raised not only through the hard work of the volunteers in the Charity Shop and the May Fayre committee, but also from local government sources such Stoke sub Hamdon Parish Council, SSDC grants and S106 grants provided from housing developments in the village. Other providers such as Postcode Lottery, Yarlingtons, the Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation, Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust, Rank Foundation, Tesco Bags of Help, Battens, Awards for All and other sources also made a significant contribution to these projects. A lot of hard work and fund raising went into providing these facilities for the village and all concerned are to be thanked for their efforts.
